Soon to be a year.

A mother holds up her child.

As I was getting my hair cut yesterday several thoughts went through my mind.  No not thoughts of my hair falling to the floor.  Thoughts about how a year has gone by.  My stylist asked me what I did for a living.  I thought about it.  Funny that was what a few people asked me last weekend while we were on vacation.  Well I answered I am a stay at home mom.  I am a homemaker.  I clean, watch a little one, feed the little one, and try to keep the house in order.  Yep just a homemaker.  A mother (or a I assume was a mother) of a young man who was getting his hair cut looked at me dead in the eye and said “Your not just a homemaker you ARE a homemaker.”  I smiled and thanked her.

Yeah up until a year ago I was new wife getting used to her new surrounds.  I was pregnant with my son.  I was not enjoying the Northwest summer.  I was taking any class I could sign up for at the hospital to prepare myself for this new journey of motherhood.  All of the years of childcare, babysitting, and tutoring 2nd graders couldn’t have gotten me ready for this.  Would I change anything… sure but not my baby boy.  He’s a jewel.  I see a bit of myself in him.  Especially that curious look when he’s trying to reach something.  Its true what our parents say… “They will be just like you”.
